Event recap editing

Fundraisers, parties, launches, reunions and community events, cut into a short recap from the clips you and your guests filmed.

What a recap is

A recap is a short film of the day, often one to three minutes, set to music, with a few moments of sound from speeches or toasts. It goes to attendees, sponsors, donors or members, and it doubles as promotion for the next one. A vertical cut for social usually comes from the same footage.

Footage from many phones

Event footage rarely comes from one camera. Staff film on their phones, a volunteer brings a camera, guests send clips afterward. That mix is fine. We match color and brightness across devices, even out sound levels, and put the moments in the order they happened so the recap reads as one day.

To collect clips from guests, set up one shared upload folder and post the link at the event or in a follow-up email. Ask people to upload the original files rather than sending them through chat apps, which shrink the quality.

Moments worth catching

  • Arrival: doors opening, the room before it fills, a sign or table setup
  • Wide shots of the crowd at the busiest point
  • The key line from any speech or announcement, recorded close to the speaker
  • Small details: food, decorations, name tags, hands at work
  • People's reactions, laughing or clapping
  • The end of the night, so the story has a close

Nobody gets every one of these. Send what you have and we'll build from it.

Speeches and sound

Phone microphones pick up the room, so a speech filmed from the back often sounds distant. If someone recorded closer, or if the venue's sound system was recorded, send that file too. We'll use the clearest source for each line and add captions where the room noise is heavy.

Versions

Common outputs are a full recap for YouTube or a website, a 30 to 60 second vertical cut for social, and short clips for sponsors or speakers to share. List the ones you need in the brief so they're in the quote.

Questions

Can you blur faces of guests who didn't agree to be filmed?

Yes. Point out who or what needs covering, and we'll blur it. Faces, name badges and screens can all be hidden.

Do you film the event?

No. We edit footage you and your guests capture. If you plan to film it yourself, the list above is a good shot list to share with your team.
